Andi Bushati: Why stones and Molotov cocktails became inevitable

This youth revolt has had a great merit. It made known to the general public the most criminal side of this regime that had until now been preserved in the most secretive recesses. If the extremely peaceful revolution of the flamingos showed us that this government was no longer popular, its radical epilogue, with stones and Molotov cocktails, is serving to bring to light that the autocrat is capable of using any means to stay in power.

Andi Bushati: Why stones and Molotov cocktails became inevitable

For a decade, or more precisely since the 2017 elections, when the Socialist Party took sole control, a debate has divided society into two large groups: is Edi Rama an autocrat who can be removed through elections? One side claimed that, for better or worse, Albania remained a democracy, where power should be established only through the ballot box, and since this did not happen, this was mainly the fault of the opposition, but also of the system changed in 2008, of weak counter-powers such as the media or civil society, and so on.

The other side insisted more and more strongly that the criminalization of governance, the flow of dirty money, the capture of justice and major television stations had made a normal political rotation impossible. According to them, if Edi Rama were to be overthrown, this would only happen through revolt, since he had usurped power so badly that he had no intention of leaving his seat.

The events of the last four months, but especially those of the week we just left behind, have solved this dilemma. They showed that the prime minister is willing to maintain power even with blood. The brutal police violence, the tear gas, the beating of teenagers in front of the cameras, all under the ridiculous motto that "Edi is the only one who can take us to Europe", have overcome the dilemma that has tormented us for years. Rama has hardly left himself the opportunity for a third life beyond politics, he will either remain in the chair, or he will end up in prison.

But now, when this has been understood by almost everyone, the adherents of the "peaceful path", who for the most part are nothing more than crypto-thuggery, have changed their skin. They admit, almost face to face, that this clique has been discredited amid unimaginable corruption scandals, they claim that the flamingo revolution brought to light a great popular discontent, hidden until now through rigged electoral competitions, but - because there is always a but - they condemn the escalation of the last few days and cry crocodile tears over the devastation.

From the first dilemma, they are trying to impose the second? Is the solution in violence?

Of course, like these useful idiots, everyone knows that in the end everything comes down to the popular vote. Even in a crisis like that of 1997, which was by far the biggest one yet, the change of power was made through elections. But the question is how it got there. The state had to fall, for the people to take up arms, for Berisha to be denied any formal or occult power, because otherwise he would have received the same plebiscite result that he had achieved a year earlier.

Even today, before we preach to those revolted teenagers the hypocrisy of the peaceful path, before we hold them accountable for their conviction and political alternative, we must thank them for their courage in tearing down, one by one, the bricks of a criminal regime. Then, if they succeed, the conditions will be for everyone to go and vote according to their convictions and preferences.

But, for now, we are not at this stage, because neither has the full manifestation of the features of this violent caste been fully completed, nor have the barriers leading to freedom been finally dismantled. Only if this process goes to the end will even those who initially feared what they stigmatized as violence become aware of the face of an autocracy that had stripped this society of any other alternative.

Andi Bushati: An autumn with an end-of-regime atmosphere

Whether it's his own party's own dice that throw him a punch, whether it's citizens who boo him in the street, whether it's the brave SPAK prosecutors who have gotten close to his throat, or international journalists who compare him to the godfather, one thing shows that Edi Rama's political curve has reached its end. His propaganda narrative is already over.

Blendi Kajsiu: Prime Minister's misunderstanding on anti-corruption

The fact that no institution of our public administration noticed that millions of euros were invested in phantom incinerators, that AKSHI was controlled by an ordinary criminal, that the directors of the Municipality of Tirana awarded tenders to themselves, or that the police director and the director of SHISH worked for Gysi, shows that we do not have a public administration and a state.

Blendi Kajsiu: Gysi- Vlora, a story of corruption, not love

The fact that high-ranking officials of our state worship such scoundrels as Agasi is evidence of corruption, not romantic sensitivity. The highest levels of the state should serve as a moral and principled compass for the ordinary citizen, and not degrade below the moral level of the population. This is precisely what shocks us in the case of Ms. Hyseni. Her moral and principled compass was below the level of the citizen.

The fall of Vlora into a bed of crime

Vlora is neither a pear nor a peach that someone eats behind the Prime Minister's back. It is the most blatant illustration of how Edi Rama himself has put the country's institutions at the service of his power, which is essentially the power of crime.
