The Speaker of the Parliament of North Macedonia, Afrim Gashi, has said that no verdict can deny the fact that Hashim Thaçi, Jakup Krasniqi, Kadri Veseli and Rexhep Selimi belong to a glorious chapter in the history of Kosovo. After the Special Court's guilty verdict against the former KLA leaders, Gashi said that the same, for the Albanian people, are and remain liberators. According to him, the battle with the Special Court will continue even on appeal.
REACTION
At a time when the freedom of Kosovo and the peace and stability of the region were still an ideal to be fought for, they had the courage to engage and take upon themselves the historical responsibility to bring freedom to their people. For the Albanian people, they are and remain the liberators of Kosovo. The KLA war, the sacrifice and selflessness of those who led it and were part of it, are the very path that led to the freedom of Kosovo and to a new era of peace and stability in the region.
Today's verdict is of the first instance, while the battle for justice continues. Therefore, today is the day to stand together, with dignity and calm, and to prove that our minds and hearts are with the liberators and their families. Because a free Kosovo was the most difficult battle and they won it. Because a free Kosovo is the testimony of that generation that dared to dream of freedom and at the same time the consolation that should keep us strong in the face of today's decision and other challenges.
