Eldi Dizdari extradited from Dubai to Belgium

Eldi Dizdari, alias Denis Matoshi and known by the nicknames “Alduth” and “The Tall Albanian”, has been extradited from the United Arab Emirates to Belgium, where he will serve a 10-year prison sentence imposed by Belgian justice. The 37-year-old, who is considered by Belgian authorities to be one of the main figures of the Albanian criminal organization or otherwise “The Bello Company”, was arrested in the Emirates about two years ago, following a request by Belgian authorities for his extradition.

According to foreign media, Dizdari departed from the United Arab Emirates on Wednesday and after a few hours of travel, arrived at the Melsbroek military airport. From there, he was transferred to a Belgian penitentiary institution. Dizdari has been sentenced by the Antwerp court to 10 years in prison and a fine of 80 thousand euros, within the framework of the “Yaramis” file, which is related to cocaine trafficking and the removal of drug cargoes from the port of Antwerp.

In addition to the prison sentence and fine, the court also ordered the confiscation of criminal proceeds worth around 7.5 million euros, which the authorities attribute to Dizdar. According to Belgian investigations, after the “Yaramis” group lost its positions in the port due to internal conflicts and police investigations, Matoshi allegedly collaborated with Omar Govers and Najim EM to organize the removal of cocaine shipments from the port.

In another part of the investigation, the Belgian prosecution suspects that during 2020 and 2021, two money transfers were carried out in the interest of Dizdar, with a total value of 1.75 million euros. This part of the case has been separated and would be dealt with in a separate proceeding. The name of Eldi Dizdar is also known to the Albanian authorities.

SPAK has included him in the investigations related to the “Bello Company”, while the Special Court of Appeal has upheld the decision to confiscate some of his assets. The extradition was also confirmed by the Belgian Minister of Justice, Annelies Verlinden. Through a reaction on social networks, she praised the cooperation with the authorities of the United Arab Emirates, emphasizing that the fight against international drug trafficking requires cooperation between states.

How Rama is leading the country towards civil strife

Insisting on violence, on arming civilians, on paying police officers as if they were mercenaries, alone does not produce peace. Edi Rama's fear of where he will end up when he is no longer prime minister does not have to become Albania's nightmare.

Andi Bushati: Why stones and Molotov cocktails became inevitable

This youth revolt has had a great merit. It made known to the general public the most criminal side of this regime that had until now been preserved in the most secretive recesses. If the extremely peaceful revolution of the flamingos showed us that this government was no longer popular, its radical epilogue, with stones and Molotov cocktails, is serving to bring to light that the autocrat is capable of using any means to stay in power.
