The Union of University Employees of Albania has called for a solidarity march for the protesting students, this Tuesday, October 20, at 10:00, in front of the Polytechnic University. In its announcement, SPUSH states that it has supported the student protest since its inception and expresses concern about the police interventions in recent days.
"The Union of University Employees of Albania has been supporting and part of the student protest that has been going on for six days. It is following the police violence with extreme care and concern," the reaction states.
The union's call comes a day after 963 professors, academics and representatives of public life signed a five-point declaration. Among their demands are the resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama, the creation of a caretaker government and respect for fundamental rights and freedoms.
