Prime Minister Edi Rama has reacted again to the protests by students and high school students, during a meeting with high school principals. The Prime Minister said that the protest is being presented as a movement for education, while according to him, some of the clashes are related to politically radicalized groups.
"There are also students who are extreme in their views, students who belong to new currents of political extremism," the prime minister declared.
He emphasized that the right to protest is guaranteed by the Constitution, but made a distinction between protest and violent acts.
"This stone is the object that determines where the right to protest ends and where the right of the state to protect its citizens begins," Rama said.
The Prime Minister also claimed that the protests were being led by groups and interests that, according to him, aim to exploit the situation to destabilize the country. Rama linked these developments to extremist currents that, according to him, have also emerged in other European countries.
"It has been placed in the spotlight for only one reason, to camouflage what is actually at the poisoned source of this protest. To create the idea that this is a protest for education, that this is a student protest and to justify this wave of violence that has nothing to do with pupils or students, but with a group of people who are from all over the world. In that group that is attacking the police, that is keeping the city under a terror pressure, there are also students who are exterminated in their views, students who belong to new currents of political extremism, but the problem is not and will not be neither the students nor the citizens who are protesting. Exercising the right to protest is a constitutional freedom impossible for anyone. Here we are not talking about exercising the right to protest, but about exercising violence. This stone is the object that clearly separates the two sides of this story. This stone is the object that determines where the right to protest ends and where the right to "The state is trying to protect its citizens. They are actually a contingent of these forces that have now penetrated Europe and are appearing with fire and iron in many cities and capitals of Europe, even though ours is more complicated. Because the hands that have been put here to exploit are hands that together seek to exploit a moment, a gap, a space to hinder the progress of our country, to destabilize our country that has been stabilizing the Western Balkans and to hinder the process of negotiations with the EU," said Rama.
