A 40-year-old man was injured this evening on the Berat–Ura e Kuçit axis. The injured man, Endri Selfaj, was riding a bicycle when he was hit by a vehicle that immediately left the scene. Passersby found him lying on the road and notified the police. Selfaj was initially taken to the Berat Regional Hospital, but due to his injuries he was later transported to the Trauma Hospital in Tirana.
The police have launched a search to identify the vehicle and its driver. For this purpose, security camera footage along the road has been seized. Investigations are ongoing to fully clarify the accident and catch the driver who fled without providing assistance to the 40-year-old.
