There is no sleep in Pristina/ Protesters are still standing in the square

The situation outside the Kosovo Assembly remains tense, as protesters threw fireworks demanding that MPs vote on amendments to the law on the Special Court. Some protesters are still in the square even as midnight approaches.

Kosovo Police responded to the protesters with tear gas in front of the Parliament. The main road near the Parliament was blocked, while additional forces of the Kosovo Police special units were present.

Police forces were forced to use tear gas and pepper spray to clear the way for MPs who were trapped in the Parliament. It was reported that 11 people were hospitalized as a result of the clashes, one of whom is a police officer.

Around 19:00, the deputies of the Vetevendosje Movement and Prime Minister Albin Kurti left the Parliament building. The protesters' calls and reactions for voting on the amendments to the law came after the failure of negotiations between the Vetevendosje Movement and the PDK, where Albin Kurti and Bedri Hamza could not find a compromise on the election of the President.

Earlier, Kurti held a meeting with PDK leader Bedri Hamza. Kurti insists that before the law on "Special" is voted on in its entirety, the issue of the new President must be resolved. PDK says that the law must first be voted on and then the President can be discussed. ©LAPSI.al

How Rama is leading the country towards civil strife

Insisting on violence, on arming civilians, on paying police officers as if they were mercenaries, alone does not produce peace. Edi Rama's fear of where he will end up when he is no longer prime minister does not have to become Albania's nightmare.

Andi Bushati: Why stones and Molotov cocktails became inevitable

This youth revolt has had a great merit. It made known to the general public the most criminal side of this regime that had until now been preserved in the most secretive recesses. If the extremely peaceful revolution of the flamingos showed us that this government was no longer popular, its radical epilogue, with stones and Molotov cocktails, is serving to bring to light that the autocrat is capable of using any means to stay in power.
