The new US ambassador to our country arrived in Albania this Friday afternoon (25/9). Former General Eric Wendt was President Donald Trump's choice to lead American diplomacy in our country.
As seen from the footage published by TCH, the US ambassador was welcomed in Rinas by heads of state protocol and embassy representatives. After a stay of about 20 minutes at the VIP terminal in Rinas, the new US ambassador headed towards Tirana for a first stop at the diplomatic headquarters on "Elbasani Road".
Former General Eric Wendt begins his diplomatic mission in Albania, after a 3-year period during which Washington encountered difficulties in the Senate to bring in an ambassador, since the end of Yuri Kim's term in June 2023.
In less than 24 hours from his arrival in Tirana, Saturday morning will find Ambassador Eric Wendt at the Brigades Palace to present his credentials to the President of the Republic. He is then expected to have a face-to-face meeting with the head of state.
On Wednesday, Ambassador Eric Wendt is expected to ascend the steps of the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs to hold his first meeting with Minister Ferit Hoxha. On Friday, the US Embassy in Tirana will host an introduction ceremony for the new ambassador at a hotel in the center of the capital. ©LAPSI.al
