Slovan fans attack Roma's ultras sector: violent clashes with police

A match within a match took place at the “Olimpico” on Tuesday evening, on the occasion of the Roma-Slovan challenge, valid for the third round of the Champions League. While on the field the yellow-red team completely dominated, closing the match with a sensational 4-0 victory, moments of tension and fear were experienced in the stands due to the violent behavior of the away fans, who attempted to break the dividing barriers to enter the Curva Nord, the heart and soul of the Roma ultras.

In the end, the police had to intervene, and clashed with the Slovak ultras. The latter managed to take several shields from the rapid intervention unit, while one police officer was injured and left injured.

What happened?

The incidents erupted during the second half, around the 55th minute, when the score was already completely in Roma's favor, leading 3-0 thanks to goals from Hermoso, Molina and Pisilli. Perhaps the sheer frustration of their team suffering defeat without being able to react caused the anger of the most ardent group of Slovak fans.

The spark was ignited in the away fans' section, where a group of Slovan ultras caused a riot, seeking direct clashes with security personnel and law enforcement officers deployed to guard the area. Their clear intention was to approach the Curva Nord to seek contact with the yellow fans.

The situation quickly escalated into a full-scale physical fight in the stands. Slovan's ultras managed to push back the police forces present there and, at that critical moment, managed to take some protective shields from the officers.

The toll of the clashes included the injury of a police officer, who was hit during close contact. The situation was then brought under control within a few minutes, pushing the ultras back and returning them to their sector of the "Olimpico".

How Rama is leading the country towards civil strife

Insisting on violence, on arming civilians, on paying police officers as if they were mercenaries, alone does not produce peace. Edi Rama's fear of where he will end up when he is no longer prime minister does not have to become Albania's nightmare.

Andi Bushati: Why stones and Molotov cocktails became inevitable

This youth revolt has had a great merit. It made known to the general public the most criminal side of this regime that had until now been preserved in the most secretive recesses. If the extremely peaceful revolution of the flamingos showed us that this government was no longer popular, its radical epilogue, with stones and Molotov cocktails, is serving to bring to light that the autocrat is capable of using any means to stay in power.
