Teachers have joined the student protest and have announced that they will come out every day at 10:00, linking the continuation of the rallies to the demand for the resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama. The head of the Teachers' Union, Sandër Kovaçi, said that the involvement of the academic world comes after the lack, according to him, of a concrete response to the demands raised by the young people. He described the missing dialogue as one of the reasons that has led to the escalation of the protests and criticized the way in which the demonstrators have been intervened in recent days.
Kovaçi also raised concerns about the presence of people in civilian clothes during the clashes, demanding that the reported cases be verified and the safety of citizens be guaranteed. “The brutality against Albanian youth is unacceptable,” he declared, while calling on embassies and international representations to closely follow developments in Albania.
The teachers are demanding political responsibility from the government and have announced that their protests will continue. Meanwhile, the student and youth protesters rejected Prime Minister Rama's offer of dialogue a day earlier.
