A serious incident occurred in Kosovo, where a woman was found dead on Sunday evening in her home in Vitomirica, Peja, a few hours after she had gone to the police to report domestic violence.
According to the Kosovo Police, initially at around 19:00, the police were notified of the domestic violence case. The woman was escorted to the Police station for questioning, while her husband was arrested and detained for 48 hours. After questioning, the woman was taken to her home in Vitomirica, of her own free will, the Police statement said. However, at around 21:10, the police were notified that she had been found without signs of life at home. The medical team had declared her dead.
According to initial police data, the woman is suspected of having died as a result of being hit with a hard object. The police have announced that the perpetrator is suspected of being the victim's brother-in-law, who is on the run. Three days before she was killed, the woman had submitted a letter to the chief prosecutor of Peja, requesting urgent action against officials of the responsible institutions, whom she accused of failing to perform their official duties, including the execution of a court decision.
"I hope you are not forced to account only after my life has been taken," she wrote, among other things, in the letter.
