Celebrations erupted in the streets of Belgrade after the leader of the United Serbia list, Aleksandar Vučić, admitted his party's defeat in Sunday's parliamentary elections. He declared that the Student List had won more seats in the elections.
While the votes are still being counted and the official results have not yet been released, Vučić announced that he had received information based on a statistical sample.
"Based on the statistical sample, it is clear that we lost these elections," Vučić said. The student list will have between 135 and 140 seats in parliament, Vučić said, while for his party he added that it will have no more than 105 seats.
