Erion Veliaj's trial postponed at the GJKKO, lawyers continue boycott

The court hearing against Tirana Mayor Erion Veliaj at the Special Court Against Corruption and Organized Crime (SCOC) has been postponed. The court has fined the lawyers 50,000 lek each, while the hearing has been postponed to October 13.

The postponement of the hearing comes at a time when lawyers continue their protest against the new regulation, which entered into force on September 1. Lawyers consider this regulation unconstitutional and, as a sign of protest, have decided to boycott court hearings at the GJKKO, including security measures.

The lawyers' boycott continues to affect the conduct of court hearings at the Special Court, while the case against Erion Veliaj is expected to continue on October 13.

How Rama is leading the country towards civil strife

Insisting on violence, on arming civilians, on paying police officers as if they were mercenaries, alone does not produce peace. Edi Rama's fear of where he will end up when he is no longer prime minister does not have to become Albania's nightmare.

Andi Bushati: Why stones and Molotov cocktails became inevitable

This youth revolt has had a great merit. It made known to the general public the most criminal side of this regime that had until now been preserved in the most secretive recesses. If the extremely peaceful revolution of the flamingos showed us that this government was no longer popular, its radical epilogue, with stones and Molotov cocktails, is serving to bring to light that the autocrat is capable of using any means to stay in power.
