A group of 13 people, including Albanians, has been arrested in Athens for stealing 25 kilometers of copper cable from a company west of Athens.
Those arrested are Greeks, Albanians, Bangladeshis and Bulgarians.
They are accused of breaking into the premises of a French company in Paiania, on the outskirts of Athens, several times at night, and stealing cables worth a total of 1 million euros.
Then, they set fire to the insulating coatings of the cables to extract the pure copper underneath, which would be sold for scrap.
The gang was identified through security camera footage.
