Following the explosion of a suspicious bag in the area of Plato's Academy in Athens, which exploded as soon as police opened it and injured four people, another suspicious bag has been found in Piraeus.
A team from the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Department (TEEM) arrived at the scene to inspect the abandoned suitcase.
The area was immediately cordoned off, as security forces are on general alert following the previous bomb blast at an apartment building in Platonos Academy.
As announced by the Hellenic Police, vehicle traffic has been suspended at the intersection of Iroon Polytechniou and Karaoli & Dimitriou streets. Traffic was then also suspended on Tsmaadou Street from the level of Notara Street to the level of Karaiskou Street.
Traffic police were deployed to the scene, diverting passing cars to adjacent roads, causing heavy traffic.
