The Special Prosecution Office has communicated the charges to former national football player, Igli Tare. Tare appeared early this morning at SPAK, where he is accused of money laundering, after allegedly hiding 2 villas belonging to former Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku in his name. The communication of the charges against Igli Tare comes a day after SPAK's decision to communicate the charges to Belinda Balluku. The latter has been charged with five criminal offenses, allegedly committed in 15 cases.
Former Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku has been named as a defendant in the 190 million euro tender for the construction of the Llogara tunnel, an accusation that has been officially communicated to her, and she is also suspected of being involved in the 20 million euro tender for lot 4 of the Tirana Ring Road. For both tenders, worth 210 million euros, according to SPAK, Balluku predetermined the winner through supervision and intervention throughout the entire process of developing the competition.
