The State Police has increased preventive and reactive measures to guarantee public order and safety, on the eve of the rally announced for today, after noting calls on social networks for possible acts of violence.
In a statement to the media, Albert Nushi, head of the Management Sector at the Department of Public Security, announced that calls have been identified on online platforms for the gathering of masked individuals equipped with pyrotechnics, Molotov cocktails, metal balls and screws, sticks, stones and other hard objects.
According to the Police, calls for attacks on Police officers, burning of blue uniformed vehicles, and damage to public and private property were also reported yesterday and in the early hours of this morning.
In connection with these calls, criminal proceedings have been initiated, while specialized structures are conducting investigative actions to identify the responsible persons and bring them to justice.
"Persons who intend to exploit the gathering to commit violence, regardless of disguise or attempts to hide their identity, will be identified and will face legal responsibility," Nushi declared.
Police called on participants to distance themselves from masked and violent individuals, emphasizing that the constitutional right to peacefully assemble will be respected and protected, but cannot be used as an excuse for attacks on police officers or destruction of property.
A special appeal was made to parents, who are asked not to allow their children to participate in gatherings or stay in environments where they may be at risk from the clashes and violent acts that have been warned.
"Protecting children from dangerous situations is a shared responsibility," Nushi emphasized.
The police also addressed journalists and media operators who will be reporting from the field, asking them to respect the security perimeters and the instructions of the police officers, to avoid endangering their lives and health. The statement underlines the importance of informing the public and freely exercising journalistic activity, in compliance with security measures.
In conclusion, the State Police appealed for calm, responsibility and respect for the law, guaranteeing that services in the field will act in accordance with the law and respecting the principle of proportionality in responding to any act of violence or illegality.
