The Laws Committee has been held with severe tensions between the deputies of the Democratic Party and the socialist majority. Democratic deputy Oerd Bylykbashi has called for the resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama and the self-dissolution of Parliament. During his speech, Bylykbashi also denounced the police interventions in the student protests, emphasizing that hundreds of citizens have needed medical assistance as a result of the use of force and rubber bullets.
The Democrat demanded an investigation of the entire chain of command of the State Police for the way the protests were managed, as well as the removal from the ranks of the blue uniformed officers who have exercised violence against citizens. On the other hand, the socialist MP Ulsi Manja responded with irony to the opposition's demands, stating that the Democrats should continue to dream.
Excerpts from the discussion:
Bylykbashi: The 15th day that students and high school students have been protesting, facing violence from the police, one of whom had his eye gouged out. Disproportionate violence, in violation of the Constitution and the law. Arrest has been used as a means of intimidation.
Hundreds have needed medical attention from rubber bullets. An investigation was needed into the entire chain of command of the State Police. The police must be purged of criminal officers who brutally beat protesters. They rumble through the alleys, beat them and leave them in the square. There are two demands: Rama to resign, it is the demand of those in the square, and yours from within. And a transitional government. The Assembly has a moral obligation to dissolve itself. Don't mess with that bandit, if the Assembly is not dissolved, the shame will be yours. Try meeting them there and you will see the bill.
Manja: Keep dreaming, but when you go out to Lana, wear plastic. Don't protect those who commit violence in your headquarters. To be honest to the end, violence from all sides must be condemned. If there is excess by the police, let there be an investigation.
