Ervin Demo came out today alongside Edi Rama to intimidate protesters just like Hekuran Isai, the last interior minister of the communist regime in Albania. Demo stated that the State Police is using technology to accelerate the identification of persons who have committed acts of violence during the protests in Tirana, even in cases where they have tried to hide their identity through masks. According to him, the identification process is advancing rapidly, thanks to the processing of film footage from various sources.
"Even when the protesters hid their faces through masks, we still managed to identify all the protesters who committed acts of violence," Demo said, emphasizing that this process will continue in the coming days.
The minister announced that authorities are analyzing hundreds of hours of footage, obtained from social media, television cameras, and institutional cameras. According to him, processing this material solely through human resources would be a difficult and slow process, while the use of technology is helping to speed up the identification of persons involved in acts of violence.
Demo also referred to public images showing partially masked people, emphasizing that some of the materials were published by the individuals themselves on social networks, while others were recorded by the media and institutional cameras.
"The State Police is very clear about its duty to bring before the prosecution all those cases that will be built for all persons who have committed violence against institutions and private property," the minister declared.
The identification process, according to him, will continue until the cases are documented and referred to the prosecutor's office. The authorities' aim is for persons suspected of damaging public institutions and private property to be identified through film evidence and face the relevant legal procedures.
