The European People's Party, the largest grouping of right-wing and center-right political parties in Europe, reacted again to the situation created in Albania.
Their response states that the voice of young people must be heard and that the country needs a government that fights corruption and enables the rule of law.
The response from the most influential political group in the EU states that violence has no place in democracy.
"The right to peaceful protest must be fully respected.
Any allegations of excessive, unlawful and disproportionate use of force must be investigated immediately, thoroughly and independently, with law enforcement officers acting at all times in a proportionate manner.
Albania's future lies on a democratic, prosperous and European path, with a responsible government, the rule of law, the fight against corruption and a future of opportunity in the country.
Any violence and unlawful attacks by all parties, especially against property and personal integrity, have no place in a democracy, as current tensions must be addressed through dialogue, de-escalation, and democratic engagement.
"The voice of young people must be heard and their right to peacefully protest must be protected," the official response states.
