Republican US Congressman Mike Lawler has reacted to the protests in Albania, expressing the Albanian-American community's concern about the state of democracy in the country. He calls on the Albanian government to stop using force against protesters.
In his reaction on the social network 'X', Lawler emphasizes that he has received concerns from Albanian-American voters in the NY-17 district, who are alarmed by recent developments in Albania and the consequences they may have for the country's democratic future.
In his message, the American congressman directly calls on the Albanian government to immediately reduce tensions and end the use of force against peaceful protesters.
According to him, this standard should be implemented by every government, especially democratic countries and NATO allies.
"I have heard from my Albanian-American constituents in NY-17, who are deeply concerned about the protests taking place in Albania and what this means for the future of democracy in the country.
I stand with my constituents and the Albanian people. Every government, especially governments of democratic countries and NATO allies, must respect the right of its citizens to peacefully protest and express their views.
