Full reaction:
Albania congratulates the Student List for its convincing victory in the parliamentary elections in Serbia and the citizens for their broad participation in the democratic process. Developments in Serbia demonstrate the importance of civic engagement and free voting as an expression of democratic will.
Civic energy that finds representation through institutions is an opportunity for change, but also a responsibility for those who gain the trust of citizens. A special congratulations goes to the Albanian Coalition and the Albanians of the Presevo Valley, who have scored an important result in these elections. According to preliminary projections, two parliamentary mandates are in prospect, while the race for a third mandate remains open.
This representation should serve to advance the rights of Albanians, guarantee equal treatment and address their legitimate concerns. In this new political chapter for Serbia, the normalization of relations with the Republic of Kosovo remains a fundamental responsibility. Albania expects a constructive engagement in the dialogue mediated by the European Union, the respect and implementation of the agreements reached, as well as concrete steps towards stable neighborly relations.
Political change should also create new opportunities for peace and cooperation in the region. Albania remains ready to cooperate with the institutions that will emerge from this electoral process, on the basis of mutual respect, common interests and commitment to a more stable, secure and European-oriented Western Balkans.
